What is the Duel in the Desert?
Annual AZ vs. CA team competition
Early October: AZ Duel in the Desert Trials
Late October/Early November: Duel in the Desert
The AZ Duel in the Desert Trials selects the Arizona Duel in
the Desert Team. The Duel takes place in CA in odd number
years and in AZ in even numbered years. Traditionally, the AZ
Duel team is made up of 20 seniors (6 recurve men, 6 recurve
women, 4 compound men, 4 compound women) and 4 juniors (Jr
recurve male, Jr recurve female, Jr compound male and Jr
compound female). Arizona juniors often make the senior
Arizona team. AZ Team members receive support from the ASAA.
Often support includes a team shirt and Duel tournament entry
fee paid for. Whether the Duel is in CA or AZ, it’s rewarding
and fun to be on the State’s Duel Team.
