New USAA bylaws election process - USAA members should be receiving ballots in the mail.

The best way to become familiar with the new process is to read the bylaws:

http://www.usarchery.org/userfiles/file/USAA_Bylaws_5-14-07.pdf

The entire document is important, but many focus on the election and read Sections 4, 5, 7 and 11.

Note that it will be up to the new USAA Board of Directors to address any election process revisions.  The best way to voice your opinion is to vote!

Here is a link to the USA Archery JOAD Committee voting notice.  USA_Archery_Board_of_Directors_Voting.pdf

It may be helpful as it includes voting scenarios.

Arizona Archers of all ages…Wanted

2007 AZ Duel Team Members

The most enjoyable “game” for Arizona archers takes place in October, the AZ Duel in the Desert Trials and Duel in the Desert. Every year, Arizona archers compete for a spot on the team at the AZ Duel in the Desert Trials.

Every other year the Duel in the Desert, rotates between Arizona and California.

The AZ Duel Trials takes place on October 6-7, 2007 at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility.

http://www.azarchery.com/forms/2007_Duel_Trials_Registration.pdf

The tournament is an open STAR FITA, all are welcome including those just want to shoot and are not interested in the Duel Team.

The AZ Duel Trials will select a 24 person team of 6 recurve men, 6 recurve women, 4 compound men, 4 compound women and a junior recurve boy, junior recurve girl, junior compound boy and junior compound girl.  Note that all age groups can shoot up to senior and any JOAD can compete as a junior.

All Arizona Duel Team members enjoy the experience, especially first timers that make the state team.

Junior members are typically first timers.

The Duel in the Desert is schedule to take place on the “1984 LA Summer Olympic field” in Long Beach California on October 27-28, 2007 at El Dorado Park.

The tournament is a FITA, with the two long distances shot on Saturday and the two short distances shot on Sunday.  Here are the competition rules for the Duel in the Desert .

After the first half of the Duel in California, many AZ team members go out to eat together.  Some head to the beach.

AZ Duel team members receive paid entry tournament entry fee to the Duel in the Desert and the 2007 AZ Duel team shirt, courtesy of the Arizona State Archery Association.

AZ Duel team members are responsible for their own travel arrangements and expenses.

Most drive to LA Friday afternoon, compete on Saturday and Sunday and drive back on Sunday night.

There are many hotels in the area.

The big question…Do I have a chance to make the team?

Answer...a big YES, especially when the Duel is in California.

Often, everyone that tries out for the AZ Duel team, makes the team.

The toughest division is typically the male compound, the easiest are the junior members.

The best reason to take part in any tournament is to gain valuable experience.

Lastly, Arizona is the reigning Duel in the Desert overall and women team champions!  Fielding a full team is very important!

The Papago FITA Archers Club is pleased to announce The 2007 JOAD/Adult Club Invitational Series.

The series is for Arizona Archery Club members only. JOAD, Adult and Collegiate clubs are encouraged to participate. It is our hope that by having a series of events limited to Archers who belong to a local club, it will encourage others to become more involved with or form Archery Clubs.

We are starting small but we hope that other clubs will be able to host a part of the series at their home range in the future. We also hope that this series will expand to indoors also. Please join us for this event.

Click here for the registration form.

The form and additional information is also on the Papago Web site www.papagoarchery.com .

Arizona JOAD and families, don’t miss this opportunity!

If you have a bow and arrows and can shoot the distances, do not hesitate to enter into the competition.

The tournament is open to all USA Archery members.

JOAD archers in the West Region only have easy access to the JOAD Nationals every four years.

This year the tournament will take place in the San Diego area at the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center.

The OTC is a 6 hour drive from central Arizona.

Many will add a day or two to visit the beach, Sea World, zoo or any of the other summer delights around the SD area.

See you there!
